創42:1CUV雅各埃及有糧、就對兒子們說、你們為甚麼彼此觀望呢。

創42:1NCV雅各埃及有糧食,就對兒子們說:「你們為甚麼彼此對望呢﹖」

創42:1CLV雅各知道埃及有糧食,就對兒子們說:「你們為甚麼還在這兒互相呆望呢?

創42:2CUV我聽見埃及有糧、你們可下去從那裏為我們糴些來、使我們可以存活、不至於死。

創42:2NCV他又說:「我聽說埃及有糧食,你們下到那裏去,給我們買些糧食,使我們可以活下去,不至餓死。」

創42:2CLV我聽說埃及有糧食,你們快到埃及去糴些糧食回來吧,希望我們不會一同餓死就好了。」

創42:3CUV於是約瑟的十個哥哥都下埃及糴糧去了。

創42:7CLV約瑟馬上就認出他們,他卻不讓自己流露半點親情。「你們是從哪裏來的?」約瑟還疾言厲色地喝道。「我們是從迦南來買糧食的。」他們回答說。

創42:13CUV他們說、僕人們本是弟兄十二人、是迦南地一個人的兒子、頂小的現今在我們的父親那裏、有一個沒有了。●

創42:13NCV他們說:「僕人們本是弟兄十二人,我們都是迦南地一個人的兒子。最小的現在與我們的父親在一起,還有一個不在了。」●

創42:13CLV他們連忙回答說:「大人,我們共有十二個兄弟,父親住在迦南,最年幼的弟弟留在父親身邊,還有一個已經不在了。」●

創42:14CUV約瑟說、我纔說你們是奸細、這話實在不錯、

創42:14NCV約瑟對他們說:「我剛才對你們說:『你們是間諜。』這話實在不錯。

創42:14CLV約瑟說:「我說你們是敵人派來的,一點也不錯!

創42:15CUV我指著法老的性命起誓、若是你們的小兄弟不到這裏來、你們就不得出這地方、從此就可以把你們證驗出來了.

創42:15NCV我要這樣試試你們:我指著法老的性命起誓,如果你們最小的弟弟不到這裏來,你們就決不得離開這裏。

創42:15CLV我現在指著法老的性命起誓,要是你們最小的弟弟不到這裏來,你們就不能走!只有這樣才可以證明你們的身分,

創42:16CUV須要打發你們中間一個人去、把你們的兄弟帶來、至於你們、都要囚在這裏、好證驗你們的話真不真、若不真、我指著法老的性命起誓、你們一定是奸細。

創42:16NCV你們可以派你們中間一個人回去,把你們的弟弟帶來;其餘的人都要囚禁起來,好證明你們的話真實不真實。如果不真實,我指著法老的性命起誓,你們就是間諜。」

創42:16CLV你們打發其中一人回去,帶你們的弟弟來。其他的人都要囚禁在這裏,我要看看你們所說的是真還是假;要是我發覺了你們說的是假話,你們就一定是敵人派來的奸細了!」

創42:17CUV於是約瑟把他們都下在監裏三天。●

創42:18CLV到了第三天,約瑟來對他們說:「我是敬畏上帝的人,我給你們一個機會,證明自己的清白。

創42:19CUV你們如果是誠實人、可以留你們中間的一個人囚在監裏、但你們可以帶著糧食回去、救你們家裏的饑荒.

創42:19NCV如果你們是誠實人,就叫你們兄弟中一個人囚禁在監裏,你們其餘的人可以帶著糧食回去,解救你們家人的饑荒。

創42:19CLV我要留你們其中一個在監裏,其他的人就帶糧食回去,接濟你們的家人。

創42:20CUV把你們的小兄弟帶到我這裏來、如此、你們的話便有證據、你們也不至於死.他們就照樣而行。

創42:21CUV他們彼此說、我們在弟兄身上實在有罪、他哀求我們的時候、我們見他心裏的愁苦、卻不肯聽、所以這場苦難臨到我們身上。

創42:21NCV他們彼此說:「我們在對待弟弟的事上實在有罪。他向我們求請的時候,我們看見他心裏的痛苦,卻不肯聽他,所以這次苦難臨到我們身上了。」

創42:21CLV他們彼此都很悔恨地說:「都是我們不好,從前我們看著弟弟心靈痛苦,聽見他哀求的聲音卻不理會,現在,這種痛苦終於報應在我們身上了。」

創42:22CUV流便說、我豈不是對你們說過、不可傷害那孩子麼、只是你們不肯聽、所以流他血的罪向我們追討。

創42:22NCV流本回答他們,說:「我不是對你們說過:『不可傷害那孩子』嗎﹖可是你們不肯聽,現在流他血的罪要向我們追討。」

創42:22CLV流便說:「我不是早就勸你們不要幹那傷天害理的事嗎?你們不聽我的話,殺了約瑟,現在報應來了!」

創42:23CUV他們不知道約瑟聽得出來、因為在他們中間用通事傳話。

創42:24NCV約瑟轉身離開他們,哭了一陣,又回到他們那裏,與他們說話。然後從他們中間拉出西緬來,在他們眼前把他捆綁起來。

創42:24CLV約瑟聽了以後轉身出去,痛哭了好一會才回來,從他們中間選了西緬,當著他們面前把他捆綁起來。

創42:25CUV約瑟吩咐人把糧食裝滿他們的器具、把各人的銀子歸還在各人的口袋裏、又給他們路上用的食物.人就照他的話辦了。●

 到了住宿的地方、他們中間有一個人打開口袋、要拿料餵驢、纔看見自己的銀子仍在口袋裏.

 到了住宿的地方,他們其中的一個人打開了布袋,要拿飼料餵驢的時候,才發現自己的銀子還在袋口那裏。

創42:28CLV他非常驚奇地說:「你們看!我的錢又回來了,而且還在我的糧袋裏呢!」他們就都嚇得面無人色,驚惶失措地彼此對問說:「上帝安排這些事發生在我們身上,究竟是甚麼意思呢?」

創42:29CUV他們來到迦南地他們的父親雅各那裏、將所遭遇的事都告訴他、說、

創42:29NCV他們回到迦南地他們的父親雅各那裏,把他們遭遇的一切事都告訴了他,說:

創42:29CLV他們終於回到迦南,見到父親雅各,就把事情的經過都告訴了他。

創42:30CUV那地的主對我們說嚴厲的話、把我們當作窺探那地的奸細。

創42:30NCV「那地的主人對我們說了一些嚴厲的話,把我們當作偵察那地的間諜。

創42:30CLV他們對雅各說:「埃及的宰相對我們說話非常苛刻,還冤枉我們是奸細。

創42:31NCV我們對他說:『我們是誠實人,並不是間諜。

創42:31CLV我們就向他解釋,告訴他我們是老實人,不是奸細,

創42:32CUV我們本是弟兄十二人、都是一個父親的兒子、有一個沒有了、頂小的如今同我們的父親在迦南地。

創42:33NCV那地的主人對我們說:『我用這個辦法就可以知道你們是不是誠實人:你們兄弟中要留下一人在我這裏,其餘的人可以帶著 糧食回去,解救你們家人的饑荒。

創42:33CLV但那人卻對我們說:『我要試試你們是否誠實,你們把一個兄弟留在我這裏,其他的人就帶糧食回家,

創42:34CUV把你們的小弟兄帶到我這裏來、我便知道你們不是奸細、乃是誠實人.這樣、我就把你們的弟兄交給你們、你們也可以在這地作買賣。●

創42:34NCV然後把你們最小的弟弟帶到我這裏來,我就知道你們不是間諜,而是誠實人了。這樣,我就把你們的弟兄交還給你們,你們也可以在這地自由來往。』」●

創42:34CLV但你們要帶你們最小的弟弟來見我,這樣,我就知道你們沒有說謊,不是敵人派來的奸細,然後我就會釋放你們的兄弟,你們也可以在這裏自由地做買賣。』」●

創42:35CUV後來他們倒口袋、不料、各人的銀包都在口袋裏、他們和父親看見銀包就都害怕。

創42:35NCV後來他們倒布袋的時候,不料各人的銀包仍然在各人的布袋裏。他們和他們的父親看見了銀包,就都懼怕起來。

創42:35CLV於是,他們解開布袋,發現每個人的袋裏都有錢,他們和父親就都害怕起來。

創42:36CUV他們的父親雅各對他們說、你們使我喪失我的兒子.約瑟沒有了、西緬也沒有了、你們又要將便雅憫帶去、這些事都歸到我身上了。

創42:36NCV他們的父親雅各對他們說:「你們總是使我喪失兒子:約瑟沒有了,西緬也沒有了,你們還要把便雅憫帶走;每一件事都是針對我。」

創42:36CLV雅各說:「你們已經使我失去了我心愛的約瑟,現在西緬又沒有了,你們還要帶走便雅憫!難道不幸的事情都永遠要發生在我身上嗎?」

創42:37CUV流便對他父親說、我若不帶他回來交給你、你可以殺我的兩個兒子、只管把他交在我手裏、我必帶他回來交給你。

創42:37NCV流本對他父親說:「如果我不把他帶回來給你,你可以殺死我的兩個兒子;只管把他交給我吧,我必把他帶回來給你。」

創42:37CLV流便對父親說:「要是我不能把便雅憫帶回來見你,你就殺了我的兩個兒子吧!請你放心把便雅憫交給我,我一定會把他帶回來你身邊的。」

創42:38CUV雅各說、我的兒子不可與你們一同下去.他哥哥死了、只剩下他、他若在你們所行的路上遭害、那便是你們使我白髮蒼蒼、悲悲慘慘的下陰間去了。●

創42:38NCV雅各說:「我的兒子不可與你們一同下去,因為他的哥哥死了,只剩下他一個;如果他在你們所走的路上遇到不幸,你們就使我這白髮老人愁愁苦苦地下陰間去了。」●

創42:38CLV可是雅各卻堅決地回答說:「我不許他跟你們到埃及去,他哥哥已經死了,現在只有他還留在我身邊。要是他在路上遇到甚麼意外,我這白髮蒼蒼的老人豈不就飲恨黃泉嗎?」●

Genesis 42:1KJVNow when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do ye look one upon another?

Genesis 42:1NIVWhen Jacob learned that there was grain in Egypt, he said to his sons, "Why do you just keep looking at each other?"

Genesis 42:2KJVAnd he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die.

Genesis 42:2NIVHe continued, "I have heard that there is grain in Egypt. Go down there and buy some for us, so that we may live and not die."

Genesis 42:3KJVAnd Joseph's ten brethren went down to buy corn in Egypt.

Genesis 42:3NIVThen ten of Joseph's brothers went down to buy grain from Egypt.

Genesis 42:4KJVBut Benjamin, Joseph's brother, Jacob sent not with his brethren; for he said, Lest peradventure mischief befall him.

Genesis 42:15KJVHereby ye shall be proved: By the life of Pharaoh ye shall not go forth hence, except your youngest brother come hither.

Genesis 42:15NIVAnd this is how you will be tested: As surely as Pharaoh lives, you will not leave this place unless your youngest brother comes here.

Genesis 42:16KJVSend one of you, and let him fetch your brother, and ye shall be kept in prison, that your words may be proved, whether there be any truth in you: or else by the life of Pharaoh surely ye are spies.

Genesis 42:16NIVSend one of your number to get your brother; the rest of you will be kept in prison, so that your words may be tested to see if you are telling the truth. If you are not, then as surely as Pharaoh lives, you are spies!"

Genesis 42:20NIVBut you must bring your youngest brother to me, so that your words may be verified and that you may not die." This they proceeded to do.

Genesis 42:21KJVAnd they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.

Genesis 42:21NIVThey said to one another, "Surely we are being punished because of our brother. We saw how distressed he was when he pleaded with us for his life, but we would not listen; that's why this distress has come upon us."

Genesis 42:22KJVAnd Reuben answered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and ye would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required.

Genesis 42:22NIV Reuben replied, "Didn't I tell you not to sin against the boy? But you wouldn't listen! Now we must give an accounting for his blood."

Genesis 42:23KJVAnd they knew not that Joseph understood them; for he spake unto them by an interpreter.

Genesis 42:23NIV They did not realize that Joseph could understand them, since he was using an interpreter.

Genesis 42:28NIV"My silver has been returned," he said to his brothers. "Here it is in my sack." Their hearts sank and they turned to each other trembling and said, "What is this that God has done to us?"

Genesis 42:29NIVWhen they came to their father Jacob in the land of Canaan, they told him all that had happened to them. They said,

Genesis 42:30KJVThe man, who is the lord of the land, spake roughly to us, and took us for spies of the country.

Genesis 42:30NIV"The man who is lord over the land spoke harshly to us and treated us as though we were spying on the land.

Genesis 42:31KJVAnd we said unto him, We are true men; we are no spies

Genesis 42:31NIVBut we said to him, 'We are honest men; we are not spies.

Genesis 42:32KJVWe be twelve brethren, sons of our father; one is not, and the youngest is this day with our father in the land of Canaan.

Genesis 42:32NIVWe were twelve brothers, sons of one father. One is no more, and the youngest is now with our father in Canaan.'

Genesis 42:33KJVAnd the man, the lord of the country, said unto us, Hereby shall I know that ye are true men; leave one of your brethren here with me, and take food for the famine of your households, and be gone

Genesis 42:33NIV"Then the man who is lord over the land said to us, 'This is how I will know whether you are honest men: Leave one of your brothers here with me, and take food for your starving households and go.

Genesis 42:34KJVAnd bring your youngest brother unto me: then shall I know that ye are no spies, but that ye are true men: so will I deliver you your brother, and ye shall traffick in the land.

Genesis 42:34NIVBut bring your youngest brother to me so I will know that you are not spies but honest men. Then I will give your brother back to you, and you can trade in the land.'"

Genesis 42:35KJVAnd it came to pass as they emptied their sacks, that, behold, every man's bundle of money was in his sack: and when both they and their father saw the bundles of money, they were afraid.

Genesis 42:35NIVAs they were emptying their sacks, there in each man's sack was his pouch of silver! When they and their father saw the money pouches, they were frightened.

Genesis 42:36KJVAnd Jacob their father said unto them, Me have ye bereaved of my children: Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and ye will take Benjamin away: all these things are against me.

Genesis 42:36NIVTheir father Jacob said to them, "You have deprived me of my children. Joseph is no more and Simeon is no more, and now you want to take Benjamin. Everything is against me!"

Genesis 42:37KJVAnd Reuben spake unto his father, saying, Slay my two sons, if I bring him not to thee: deliver him into my hand, and I will bring him to thee again.

Genesis 42:37NIVThen Reuben said to his father, "You may put both of my sons to death if I do not bring him back to you. Entrust him to my care, and I will bring him back."

Genesis 42:38KJVAnd he said, My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he is left alone: if mischief befall him by the way in the which ye go, then shall ye bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.

Genesis 42:38NIVBut Jacob said, "My son will not go down there with you; his brother is dead and he is the only one left. If harm comes to him on the journey you are taking, you will bring my gray head down to the grave in sorrow."
