出18:1(CUV)摩西 的岳父米甸祭司葉忒羅、聽見 神為摩西和 神的百姓以色列所行的一切事、就是耶和華將以色列埃及領出來的事.

出18:1(NCV摩西的岳父,甸祭司葉忒羅,聽見了 神為摩西和他自己的百姓 以色列所行的一切,就是耶和華怎樣把以色列人從埃及領出來的事,

出18:1(CLV摩西的岳父,也就是米甸的祭司葉忒羅,聽見上帝怎樣為摩西以色列人施行奇事,又怎樣帶領他們離開埃及

出18:2(CUV)便帶著 摩西的妻子西坡拉、就是摩西從前打發回去的.

出18:11(NCV)現在我知道耶和華為至大,超乎萬神之上,因為這在埃及人以狂傲的態度對 以色列人的事上已經證明了。」

出18:11(CLV)祂對付狂傲專橫的埃及人的方法,正顯出主上帝的偉大,真不是其他神祗所能比擬的。」

出18:12(CUV)摩西的岳父葉忒羅、把燔祭和平安祭獻給 神.亞倫以色列的眾長老都來了、與摩西的岳父在 神面前喫飯。●

出18:12(CLV)葉忒羅說完了便向上帝獻祭。亞倫以色列的父老都上前來與他相見,跟他一起用飯。●

出18:12(NCV)摩西的岳父葉忒羅把燔祭和幾樣祭品拿來獻給 神;亞倫和所有以色列的長老都來到 神面前,與摩西的岳父一同吃飯。●

出18:13(CUV)第二天摩西坐著審判百姓、百姓從早到晚都站在摩西的左右。

出18:13(NCV)次日,摩西坐著審判人民的案件;人民從早到晚都站在摩西的身旁。

出18:13(CLV)第二天,摩西就像往常一樣,坐堂審理人民的糾紛,從早到晚,忙個不停。

出18:14(CUV)摩西的岳父看見他向百姓所作的一切事、就說、你向百姓作的是甚麼事呢、你為甚麼獨自坐著、眾百姓從早到晚都站在你的左右呢。

出18:14(NCV)摩西的岳父看見了摩西向人民所做的一切,就說:「你向人民作的是甚麼呢﹖你為甚麼獨自坐著審判,所有的人民卻從早到晚都站在你的身旁呢﹖」

出18:14(CLV)葉忒羅看見了,就對摩西說:「你這樣從早到晚,自己一個人坐著審理這麼多人的事,是為了甚麼緣故呢?」

出18:15(CUV)摩西對岳父說、這是因百姓到我這裏來求問 神。

出18:15(NCV)摩西回答他岳父:「因為人民到我這裏來求問 神。

出18:15(CLV)摩西說:「他們是來求問上帝的,

出18:16(CUV)他們有事的時候、就到我這裏來、我便在兩造之間施行審判.我又叫他們知道 神的律例、和法度。

出18:16(NCV)他們有件的時候,就到我這裏來,我就在雙方之間施行審判,使他們認識 神的條例和律法。」

出18:16(CLV)我親自審判他們中間的是是非非,就是希望他們多認識上帝的律令和法則。」

出18:17(CUV)摩西的岳父說、你這作的不好。

出18:17(NCV)摩西的岳父對摩西說:「你這樣做不好。

出18:17(CLV)葉忒羅勸導摩西說:「可是,這並不是最好的方法啊,因為按照目前的情形,你和那些等候你判決的人都會很容易就感到疲憊不堪,

出18:18(CUV)你和這些百姓必都疲憊、因為這事太重、你獨自一人辦理不了。

出18:18(NCV)你必疲乏不堪;不但你自己,連與你在一起的人民也必疲乏不堪,因為這事太重,你不能獨自一人去作。

出18:18(CLV)這樣繁重的工作,不是你一個人可以辦得來的。

出18:19(CUV)現在你要聽我的話、我為你出個主意、願 神與你同在.你要替百姓到 神面前、將案件奏告 神.

出18:19(NCV)現在你要聽我的話,我要給你出個主意,願 神與你同在;你要代替人民到 神面前,把他們的事件帶到 神那裏。

出18:19(CLV)你聽我的勸告吧,上帝一定與你同在的。你要作人民的代表,把紛爭帶到上帝面前,

出18:20(CUV)又要將律例和法度教訓他們、指示他們當行的道、當作的事。

出18:20(NCV)又要把規例和律法教導他們,使他們知道他們當走的路,應作的事。

出18:21(CUV)並要從百姓中揀選有才能的人、就是敬畏 神、誠實無妄、恨不義之財的人、派他們作千夫長、百夫長、五十夫長、十夫長、管理百姓.

出18:21(NCV)你要從人民中間選出有才能的人,就是敬畏 神、忠實可信、恨惡不義之財的人,設立他們作千夫長、百夫長、五十夫長、十夫長,去管理人民,

出18:21(CLV)此外,你可以在民眾當中挑選一些敬畏上帝、誠實、正直、恨惡不義之財的人,分別派他們作一千人、一百人、五十人或十人的領袖。

出18:22(CUV)叫他們隨時審判百姓、大事都要呈到你這裏、小事他們自己可以審判.這樣、你就輕省些、他們也可以同當此任。

出18:22(NCV)使他們隨時可以審判人民的案件;所有大事件,他們要帶到你這裏來;所有小事件,他們可以自己審判。這樣,你就輕省些,他們也可以和你一同分擔 此事

出18:22(CLV)叫他們審判一些瑣碎的案件,遇到真正困難的案件才由你自己親自審理。有他們分擔你的責任,你的負擔便可以輕省了。

 

出18:23(CUV)你若這樣行、 神也這樣吩咐你、你就能受得住、這百姓也都平平安安歸回他們的住處。●

出18:23(NCV)你若是這樣行, 神也這樣吩咐你,你就能站立得住,所有的人民也都能平平安安地歸回自己的地方。」

出18:23(CLV)如果你接納我的建議而上帝也是這樣吩咐你的,事情便好辦得多,民眾得到迅速公平的判決,生活自然也就平靜愉快了。」●

出18:25(CUV)摩西從以色列人中揀選了有才能的人、立他們為百姓的首領、作千夫長、百夫長、五十夫長、十夫長。

出18:25(NCV)摩西從全體以色列人中選出了有才能的人,立他們作人民的首領,作千夫長、百夫長、五十夫長、十夫長。

Exodus 18:1(KJV)When Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses' father in law, heard of all that God had done for Moses, and for Israel his people, and that the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt;

Exodus 18:1(NIV)Now Jethro, the priest of Midian and father-in-law of Moses, heard of everything God had done for Moses and for his people Israel, and how the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt.

Exodus 18:2(KJV)Then Jethro, Moses' father in law, took Zipporah, Moses' wife, after he had sent her back,

Exodus 18:2(NIV)After Moses had sent away his wife Zipporah, his father-in-law Jethro received her

Exodus 18:3(KJV)And her two sons; of which the name of the one was Gershom; for he said, I have been an alien in a strange land:

Exodus 18:8(NIV)Moses told his father-in-law about everything the LORD had done to Pharaoh and the Egyptians for Israel's sake and about all the hardships they had met along the way and how the LORD had saved them.

Exodus 18:9(KJV)And Jethro rejoiced for all the goodness which the LORD had done to Israel, whom he had delivered out of the hand of the Egyptians.

Exodus 18:9(NIV)Jethro was delighted to hear about all the good things the LORD had done for Israel in rescuing them from the hand of the Egyptians.

Exodus 18:10(KJV)And Jethro said, Blessed be the LORD, who hath delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of Pharaoh, who hath delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians.

Exodus 18:10(NIV)He said, "Praise be to the LORD, who rescued you from the hand of the Egyptians and of Pharaoh, and who rescued the people from the hand of the Egyptians.

Exodus 18:11(KJV)Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly he was above them.

Exodus 18:11(NIV)Now I know that the LORD is greater than all other gods, for he did this to those who had treated Israel arrogantly."

Exodus 18:13(KJV)And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses sat to judge the people: and the people stood by Moses from the morning unto the evening.

Exodus 18:13(NIV)The next day Moses took his seat to serve as judge for the people, and they stood around him from morning till evening.

Exodus 18:14(KJV)And when Moses' father in law saw all that he did to the people, he said, What is this thing that thou doest to the people? why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even?

Exodus 18:14(NIV)When his father-in-law saw all that Moses was doing for the people, he said, "What is this you are doing for the people? Why do you alone sit as judge, while all these people stand around you from morning till evening?"

Exodus 18:15(KJV)And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people come unto me to enquire of God:

Exodus 18:15(NIV)Moses answered him, "Because the people come to me to seek God's will.

Exodus 18:16(KJV)When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws.

Exodus 18:16(NIV)Whenever they have a dispute, it is brought to me, and I decide between the parties and inform them of God's decrees and laws."

Exodus 18:17(KJV)And Moses' father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good.

Exodus 18:17(NIV)Moses' father-in-law replied, "What you are doing is not good.

Exodus 18:18(KJV)Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone.

Exodus 18:18(NIV)You and these people who come to you will only wear yourselves out. The work is too heavy for you; you cannot handle it alone.

Exodus 18:19(KJV)Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God:

Exodus 18:19(NIV)Listen now to me and I will give you some advice, and may God be with you. You must be the people's representative before God and bring their disputes to him.

Exodus 18:20(KJV)And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do.

Exodus 18:20(NIV)Teach them the decrees and laws, and show them the way to live and the duties they are to perform.

Exodus 18:21(KJV)Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:

Exodus 18:21(NIV)But select capable men from all the people--men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain--and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.

Exodus 18:22(KJV)And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee.

Exodus 18:22(NIV)Have them serve as judges for the people at all times, but have them bring every difficult case to you; the simple cases they can decide themselves. That will make your load lighter, because they will share it with you.

Exodus 18:23(KJV)If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace.

Exodus 18:23(NIV)If you do this and God so commands, you will be able to stand the strain, and all these people will go home satisfied."
