申1:26(CLV)但你們卻違背主的命令,不肯上去;

申1:30(CLV)那帶領你們的主上帝必幫助你們,正如你們親眼看見祂在埃及為你們所行的一樣;

申1:32(NCV)雖然這樣,你們還是不信耶和華你們的 神;

Deut 1:21(NIV) See, the LORD your God has given you the land. Go up and take possession of it as the LORD, the God of your fathers, told you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."

Deut 1:22(KJV) And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land, and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we shall come.

Deut 1:22(NIV) Then all of you came to me and said, "Let us send men ahead to spy out the land for us and bring back a report about the route we are to take and the towns we will come to."

Deut 1:23(KJV) And the saying pleased me well: and I took twelve men of you, one of a tribe:

Deut 1:23(NIV) The idea seemed good to me; so I selected twelve of you, one man from each tribe.

Deut 1:24(KJV) And they turned and went up into the mountain, and came unto the valley of Eshcol, and searched it out.

Deut 1:24(NIV) They left and went up into the hill country, and came to the Valley of Eshcol and explored it.

Deut 1:25(KJV) And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down unto us, and brought us word again, and said, It is a good land which the LORD our God doth give us.

Deut 1:25(NIV) Taking with them some of the fruit of the land, they brought it down to us and reported, "It is a good land that the LORD our God is giving us."

Rebellion Against the Lord

Deut 1:26-46

Deut 1:26(KJV) Notwithstanding ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God:

Deut 1:26(NIV) But you were unwilling to go up; you rebelled against the command of the LORD your God.

Deut 1:27(KJV) And ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because the LORD hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.

Deut 1:27(NIV) You grumbled in your tents and said, "The LORD hates us; so he brought us out of Egypt to deliver us into the hands of the Amorites to destroy us.

Deut 1:28(KJV) Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.

Deut 1:28(NIV) Where can we go? Our brothers have made us lose heart. They say, 'The people are stronger and taller than we are; the cities are large, with walls up to the sky. We even saw the Anakites there.'"

Deut 1:29(KJV) Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them.

Deut 1:29(NIV) Then I said to you, "Do not be terrified; do not be afraid of them.

Deut 1:30(KJV) The LORD your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;

Deut 1:30(NIV) The LORD your God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as he did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes,

Deut 1:31(KJV) And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the LORD thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.

Deut 1:31(NIV) and in the desert. There you saw how the LORD your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place."

Deut 1:32(KJV) Yet in this thing ye did not believe the LORD your God,

Deut 1:32(NIV) In spite of this, you did not trust in the LORD your God,

Deut 1:33(KJV) Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.

Deut 1:33(NIV) who went ahead of you on your journey, in fire by night and in a cloud by day, to search out places for you to camp and to show you the way you should go.

Deut 1:34(KJV) And the LORD heard the voice of your words, and was wroth, and sware, saying,

Deut 1:34(NIV) When the LORD heard what you said, he was angry and solemnly swore:

Deut 1:35(KJV) Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers,

Deut 1:35(NIV) "Not a man of this evil generationshall see the good land I swore to give your forefathers,

Deut 1:36(KJV) Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed the LORD.

Deut 1:36(NIV) except Caleb son of Jephunneh. He will see it, and I will give him and his descendants the land he set his feet on, because he followed the LORD wholeheartedly."

Deut 1:37(KJV) Also the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou also shalt not go in thither.

Deut 1:37(NIV) Because of you the LORD became angry with me also and said, "You shall not enter it, either.

Deut 1:38(KJV) But Joshua the son of Nun, which standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.

Deut 1:38(NIV) But your assistant, Joshua son of Nun, will enter it. Encourage him, because he will lead Israel to inherit it.

Deut 1:39(KJV) Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in thatday had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.

Deut 1:39(NIV) And the little ones that you said would be taken captive, your children who do not yet know good from bad--they will enter the land. I will give it to them and they will take possession of it.

Deut 1:40(KJV) But as for you, turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.

Deut 1:40(NIV) But as for you, turn around and set out toward thedesert along the route to the Red Sea."

Deut 1:41(KJV) Then ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the LORD, we will go up and fight, according to all that the LORD our God commanded us. And when ye had girded on every man his weapons of war, ye were ready to go up into the hill.

Deut 1:41(NIV) Then you replied, "We have sinned against the LORD. We will go up and fight, as the LORD our God commanded us." So every one of you put on his weapons, thinking it easy to go up into the hill country.

Deut 1:42(KJV) And the LORD said unto me, Say unto them,Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies.

Deut 1:42(NIV) But the LORD said to me, "Tell them, 'Do not go up and fight, because I will not be with you. You will be defeated by your enemies.'"

Deut 1:43(KJV) So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD, and went presumptuously up into the hill.

Deut 1:43(NIV) So I told you, but you would not listen. You rebelled against the LORD'S command and in your arrogance you marched up into the hill country.

Deut 1:44(KJV) And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah.

Deut 1:44(NIV) The Amorites who lived in those hills came out against you; they chased you like a swarm of bees and beat you down from Seir all the way to Hormah.

Deut 1:45(KJV) And ye returned and wept before the LORD; but the LORD would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.

Deut 1:45(NIV) You came back and wept before the LORD, but he paid no attention to your weeping and turned a deaf ear to you.

Deut 1:46(KJV) So ye abode in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that ye abode there.

Deut 1:46(NIV) And so you stayed in Kadesh many days--all the time you spent there.
