撒上1:9(CUV)他們在示羅喫喝完了、哈拿就站起來。祭司以利、在耶和華殿的門框旁邊坐在自己的位上。

撒上1:9(NCV)哈拿在示羅吃喝完了,就起來。(那時以利祭司在耶和華殿的門柱旁邊,坐在椅子上。)

撒上1:9(CLV)有一天,他們在示羅吃喝完了,哈拿就走到會幕那裏去。祭司 以利正坐在門口、自己的座位上。

撒上1:10(CUV)哈拿心裏愁苦、就痛痛哭泣、祈禱耶和華.

撒上1:10(NCV)她心裏愁苦,就向耶和華禱告,流淚痛哭,

撒上1:10(CLV)當時,哈拿心中非常苦惱,就一邊禱告,一邊哭,而且哭得非常傷心。

撒上1:11(CUV)許願說、萬軍之耶和華阿、你若垂顧婢女的苦情、眷念不忘婢女、賜我一個兒子、我必使他終身歸與耶和華、不用剃頭刀剃他的頭。

撒上1:11(NCV)並且許願,說:「萬軍之耶和華啊,你若是看顧使女的困苦,記念我,不忘記你的使女,賜給使女一個兒子,我就必把他一生獻給耶和華,不剃他的頭。」

撒上1:11(CLV)哈拿向上帝許願說:「天上的主啊,如果你垂顧我的痛苦,又垂聽我的禱告,賜給我一個兒子,我就必定把他奉獻給你,使他終生都屬於你,我絕不會剃他的頭。」

撒上1:15(CLV)哈拿知道他誤會了,就立刻解釋說:「啊,我不是喝醉酒,我只是心裏非常憂愁,來向我的主傾訴心事罷了。請不要誤會我是那種醉酒墮落的女人啊!」

The Birth of Samuel

1_Sam 1:1(KJV) Now there was a certain man of Ramathaimzophim, of mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite:

1_Sam 1:1(NIV) There was a certain man from Ramathaim, a Zuphite from the hill country of Ephraim, whose name was Elkanah son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite.

1_Sam 1:2(KJV) And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.

1_Sam 1:2(NIV) He had two wives; one was called Hannah and the other Peninnah. Peninnah had children, but Hannah had none.

1_Sam 1:3(KJV) And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the LORD of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the LORD, were there.

1_Sam 1:3(NIV) Year after year this man went up from his town to worship and sacrifice to the LORD Almighty at Shiloh, where Hophni and Phinehas, the two sons of Eli, were priests of the LORD.

1_Sam 1:4(KJV) And when the time was that Elkanah offered, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions:

1_Sam 1:4(NIV) Whenever the day came for Elkanah to sacrifice, he would give portions of the meat to his wife Peninnah and to all her sons and daughters.

1_Sam 1:5(KJV) But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the LORD had shut up her womb.

1_Sam 1:5(NIV) But to Hannah he gave a double portion because he loved her, and the LORD had closed her womb.

1_Sam 1:7(KJV) And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.

1_Sam 1:7(NIV) This went on year after year. Whenever Hannah went up to the house of the LORD, her rival provoked her till she wept and would not eat.

1_Sam 1:8(KJV) Then said Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons?

1_Sam 1:8(NIV) Elkanah her husband would say to her, "Hannah, why are you weeping? Why don't you eat? Why are you downhearted? Don't I mean more to you than ten sons?"

1_Sam 1:9(KJV) So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the LORD.

1_Sam 1:9(NIV) Once when they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh, Hannah stood up. Now Eli the priest was sitting on a chair by the doorpost of the LORD'S temple.

1_Sam 1:10(KJV) And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore.

1_Sam 1:10(NIV) In bitterness of soul Hannah wept much and prayed to the LORD.

1_Sam 1:11(KJV) And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.

1_Sam 1:11(NIV) And she made a vow, saying, "O LORD Almighty, if you will only look upon your servant's misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the LORD for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head."

1_Sam 1:12(KJV) And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli marked her mouth.

1_Sam 1:12(NIV) As she kept on praying to the LORD, Eli observed her mouth.

1_Sam 1:13(KJV) Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.

1_Sam 1:13(NIV) Hannah was praying in her heart, and her lips were moving but her voice was not heard. Eli thought she was drunk.

1_Sam 1:14(KJV) And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee.

1_Sam 1:14(NIV) and said to her, "How long will you keep on getting drunk? Get rid of your wine."

1_Sam 1:15(KJV) And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.

1_Sam 1:15(NIV) "Not so, my lord," Hannah replied, "I am a woman who is deeply troubled. I have not been drinking wine or beer; I was pouring out my soul to the LORD.

1_Sam 1:16(KJV) Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto.

1_Sam 1:16(NIV) Do not take your servant for a wicked woman; I have been praying here out of my great anguish and grief."

1_Sam 1:17(KJV) Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him.

1_Sam 1:17(NIV) Eli answered, "Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of him."

1_Sam 1:18(KJV) And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.

1_Sam 1:18(NIV) She said, "May your servant find favor in your eyes." Then she went her way and ate something, and her face was no longer downcast.

1_Sam 1:19(KJV) And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the LORD, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her.

1_Sam 1:19(NIV) Early the next morning they arose and worshiped before the LORD and then went back to their home at Ramah. Elkanah lay with Hannah his wife, and the LORD remembered her.

1_Sam 1:20(KJV) Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the LORD.

1_Sam 1:20(NIV) So in the course of time Hannah conceived and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, "Because I asked the LORD for him."

1_Sam 1:21(KJV) And the man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer unto the LORD the yearly sacrifice, and his vow.

1_Sam 1:21(NIV) When the man Elkanah went up with all his family to offer the annual sacrifice to the LORD and to fulfill his vow,

1_Sam 1:22(KJV) But Hannah went not up; for she said unto her husband, I will not go up until the child be weaned, and then I will bring him, that he may appear before the LORD, and there abide for ever.

1_Sam 1:22(NIV) Hannah did not go. She said to her husband, "After the boy is weaned, I will take him and present him before the LORD, and he will live there always."

1_Sam 1:23(KJV) And Elkanah her husband said unto her, Do what seemeth thee good; tarry until thou have weaned him; only the LORD establish his word. So the woman abode, and gave her son suck until she weaned him.

1_Sam 1:23(NIV) "Do what seems best to you," Elkanah her husband told her. "Stay here until you have weaned him; only may the LORD make good his word." So the woman stayed at home and nursed her son until she had weaned him.

1_Sam 1:24(KJV) And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the LORD in Shiloh: and the child was young.

1_Sam 1:24(NIV) After he was weaned, she took the boy with her, young as he was, along with a three-year-old bull, an ephah of flour and a skin of wine, and brought him to the house of the LORD at Shiloh.

1_Sam 1:25(KJV) And they slew a bullock, and brought the child to Eli.

1_Sam 1:25(NIV) When they had slaughtered the bull, they brought the boy to Eli,

1_Sam 1:26(KJV) And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the LORD.

1_Sam 1:26(NIV) and she said to him, "As surely as you live, my lord, I am the woman who stood here beside you praying to the LORD.

1_Sam 1:27(KJV) For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him:

1_Sam 1:27(NIV) I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him.

1_Sam 1:28(KJV) Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the LORD. And he worshipped the LORD there.

1_Sam 1:28(NIV) So now I give him to the LORD. For his whole life he will be given over to the LORD." And he worshiped the LORD there.
