Prv 1:11(KJV) If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:

Prv 1:11(NIV) If they say, "Come along with us; let's lie in wait for someone's blood, let's waylay some harmless soul;

Prv 1:12(KJV) Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:

Prv 1:12(NIV) let's swallow them alive, like the grave, and whole, like those who go down to the pit;

Warning Against Rejecting WisdomPrv 1:20-33

Prv 1:20(KJV) Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:

Prv 1:20(NIV) Wisdom calls aloud in the street, she raises her voice in the public squares;

Prv 1:21(KJV) She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,

Prv 1:21(NIV) at the head of the noisy streets she cries out, in the gateways of the city she makes her speech:

Prv 1:22(KJV) How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

Prv 1:22(NIV) "How long will you simple ones love your simple ways? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge?

Prv 1:23(KJV) Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

Prv 1:23(NIV) If you had responded to my rebuke, I would have poured out my heart to you and made my thoughts known to you.

Prv 1:24(KJV) Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

Prv 1:24(NIV) But since you rejected me when I called and no one gave heed when I stretched out my hand,

Prv 1:25(KJV) But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

Prv 1:25(NIV) since you ignored all my advice and would not accept my rebuke,

Prv 1:26(KJV) I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

Prv 1:26(NIV) I in turn will laugh at your disaster; I will mock when calamity overtakes you--

Prv 1:27(KJV) When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

Prv 1:27(NIV) when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you.

Prv 1:28(KJV) Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

Prv 1:28(NIV) "Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me.

Prv 1:29(KJV) For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

Prv 1:29(NIV) Since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the LORD,

Prv 1:30(KJV) They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

Prv 1:30(NIV) since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke,

Prv 1:31(KJV) Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

Prv 1:31(NIV) they will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes.

Prv 1:32(KJV) For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

Prv 1:32(NIV) For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them;

Prv 1:33(KJV) But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

Prv 1:33(NIV) but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm."
