Genesis 42:1（KJV）Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do ye look one upon another?

Genesis 42:1（NIV）【Joseph's Brothers Go to Egypt】When Jacob learned that there was grain in Egypt, he said to his sons, "Why do you just keep looking at each other?"

創42:2（UCV）我聽見埃及有糧，你們可以下去，從那裡為我們糴些來，使我們可以存活，不至於死。」

Genesis 42:6（KJV）And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph's brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth.

Genesis 42:6（NIV）Now Joseph was the governor of the land, the one who sold grain to all its people. So when Joseph's brothers arrived, they bowed down to him with their faces to the ground.

創42:7（UCV）約瑟看見他哥哥們，就認得他們，卻裝作生人，向他們說些嚴厲話，問他們說：「你們從那裡來？」他們說：「我們從迦南地來糴糧。」

Genesis 42:7（KJV）And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spake roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come ye? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food.

Genesis 42:7（NIV）As soon as Joseph saw his brothers, he recognized them, but he pretended to be a stranger and spoke harshly to them. "Where do you come from?" he asked. "From the land of Canaan," they replied, "to buy food."

Genesis 42:9（KJV）And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said unto them, Ye are spies; to see the nakedness of the land ye are come.

創42:12（UCV）約瑟說：「不然！你們必是窺探這地的虛實來的。」

Genesis 42:12（KJV）And he said unto them, Nay, but to see the nakedness of the land ye are come.

Genesis 42:12（NIV）"No!" he said to them. "You have come to see where our land is unprotected."

創42:13（UCV）他們說：「僕人們本是弟兄十二人，是迦南地一個人的兒子，頂小的現今在我們的父親那裡，有一個沒有了。」

Genesis 42:13（KJV）And they said, Thy servants are twelve brethren, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and, behold, the youngest is this day with our father, and one is not.

Genesis 42:13（NIV）But they replied, "Your servants were twelve brothers, the sons of one man, who lives in the land of Canaan. The youngest is now with our father, and one is no more."

創42:14（UCV）【約瑟囚其兄】約瑟說：「我才說你們是奸細，這話實在不錯。

Genesis 42:14（KJV）And Joseph said unto them, That is it that I spake unto you, saying, Ye are spies:

Genesis 42:14（NIV）Joseph said to them, "It is just as I told you: You are spies!

創42:15（UCV）我指著法老的性命起誓，若是你們的小兄弟不到這裡來，你們就不得出這地方，從此就可以把你們證驗出來了。

創42:15（NCV）我要這樣試試你們：我指著法老的性命起誓，如果你們最小的弟弟不到這裡來，你們就決不得離開這裡。

創42:15（CLV）我現在指著法老的性命起誓，要是你們最小的弟弟不到這裡來，你們就不能走！只有這樣才可以證明你們的身分，

Genesis 42:15（KJV）Hereby ye shall be proved: By the life of Pharaoh ye shall not go forth hence, except your youngest brother come hither.

Genesis 42:15（NIV）And this is how you will be tested: As surely as Pharaoh lives, you will not leave this place unless your youngest brother comes here.

創42:16（UCV）須要打發你們中間一個人去，把你們的兄弟帶來。至於你們，都要囚在這裡，好證驗你們的話真不真，若不真。麼我指著法老的性命起誓，你們一定是奸細。」

創42:16（NCV）你們可以派你們中間一個人回去，把你們的弟弟帶來；其餘的人都要囚禁起來，好證明你們的話真實不真實。如果不真實，我指著法老的性命起誓，你們就是間諜。」

創42:16（CLV）你們打發其中一人回去，帶你們的弟弟來。其他的人都要囚禁在這裡，我要看看你們所說的是真還是假；要是我發覺了你們說的是假話，你們就一定是敵人派來的奸細了！」

Genesis 42:16（KJV）Send one of you, and let him fetch your brother, and ye shall be kept in prison, that your words may be proved, whether there be any truth in you: or else by the life of Pharaoh surely ye are spies.

Genesis 42:16（NIV）Send one of your number to get your brother; the rest of you will be kept in prison, so that your words may be tested to see if you are telling the truth. If you are not, then as surely as Pharaoh lives, you are spies!"

創42:17（UCV）於是約瑟把他們都下在監裡三天。

Genesis 42:18（KJV）And Joseph said unto them the third day, This do, and live; for I fear God:

Genesis 42:18（NIV）On the third day, Joseph said to them, "Do this and you will live, for I fear God:

創42:19（UCV）你們如果是誠實人，可以留你們中間的一個人囚在監裡，但你們可以帶著糧食回去，救你們家裡的饑荒。

創42:19（NCV）如果你們是誠實人，就叫你們兄弟中一個人囚禁在監裡，你們其餘的人可以帶著糧食回去，解救你們家人的饑荒。

創42:19（CLV）我要留你們其中一個在監裡，其他的人就帶糧食回去，接濟你們的家人。

Genesis 42:19（KJV）If ye be true men, let one of your brethren be bound in the house of your prison: go ye, carry corn for the famine of your houses:

Genesis 42:19（NIV）If you are honest men, let one of your brothers stay here in prison, while the rest of you go and take grain back for your starving households.

創42:20（UCV）把你們的小兄弟帶到我這裡來，如此，你們的話便有證據，你們也不至於死。」他們就照樣而行。

Genesis 42:20（KJV）But bring your youngest brother unto me; so shall your words be verified, and ye shall not die. And they did so.

Genesis 42:20（NIV）But you must bring your youngest brother to me, so that your words may be verified and that you may not die." This they proceeded to do.

創42:21（UCV）他們彼此說：「我們在弟兄身上實在有罪。他哀求我們的時候，我們見他心裡的愁苦，卻不肯聽，所以這場苦難臨到我們身上。」

創42:21（NCV）他們彼此說：「我們在對待弟弟的事上實在有罪。他向我們求請的時候，我們看見他心裡的痛苦，卻不肯聽他，所以這次苦難臨到我們身上了。」

創42:21（CLV）他們彼此都很悔恨地說：「都是我們不好，從前我們看著弟弟心靈痛苦，聽見他哀求的聲音卻不理會，現在，這種痛苦終於報應在我們身上了。」

Genesis 42:21（KJV）And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.

Genesis 42:21（NIV）They said to one another, "Surely we are being punished because of our brother. We saw how distressed he was when he pleaded with us for his life, but we would not listen; that's why this distress has come upon us."

創42:22（UCV）流便說：「我豈不是對你們說過，不可傷害那孩子麼？只是你們不肯聽，所以流他血的罪向我們追討。」

創42:22（NCV）流本回答他們，說：「我不是對你們說過：『不可傷害那孩子』嗎﹖可是你們不肯聽，現在流他血的罪要向我們追討。」

創42:22（CLV）呂便說：「我不是早就勸你們不要幹那傷天害理的事嗎？你們不聽我的話，殺了約瑟，現在報應來了！」

Genesis 42:22（KJV）And Reuben answered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and ye would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required.

Genesis 42:22（NIV）Reuben replied, "Didn't I tell you not to sin against the boy? But you wouldn't listen! Now we must give an accounting for his blood."

創42:23（UCV）他們不知道約瑟聽得出來，因為在他們中間用通事傳話。

創42:24（UCV）約瑟轉身退去。哭了一場，又回來對他們說話。就從他們中間挑出西緬來，在他們眼前把他捆綁。

Genesis 42:24（KJV）And he turned himself about from them, and wept; and returned to them again, and communed with them, and took from them Simeon, and bound him before their eyes.

Genesis 42:24（NIV）He turned away from them and began to weep, but then turned back and spoke to them again. He had Simeon taken from them and bound before their eyes.

創42:25（UCV）約瑟吩咐人把糧食裝滿他們的器具，把各人的銀子歸還在各人的口袋裡，又給他們路上用的食物。人就照他的話辦了。

Genesis 42:25（KJV）Then Joseph commanded to fill their sacks with corn, and to restore every man's money into his sack, and to give them provision for the way: and thus did he unto them.

Genesis 42:25（NIV）Joseph gave orders to fill their bags with grain, to put each man's silver back in his sack, and to give them provisions for their journey. After this was done for them,

Genesis 42:27（KJV）And as one of them opened his sack to give his ass provender in the inn, he espied his money; for, behold, it was in his sack's mouth.

Genesis 42:27（NIV）At the place where they stopped for the night one of them opened his sack to get feed for his donkey, and he saw his silver in the mouth of his sack.

創42:28（UCV）就對弟兄們說：「我的銀子歸還了，看哪！仍在我口袋裡。」他們就提心吊膽，戰戰兢兢的彼此說：「這是　神向我們作甚麼呢？」

創42:28（NCV）於是對兄弟們說：「我的銀子都歸還了。你們看，就在我的布袋裡。」他們就心裡驚慌，彼此戰戰兢兢地說：「　神向我們作的是甚麼呢﹖」

創42:28（CLV）他非常驚奇地說：「你們看！我的錢又回來了，而且還在我的糧袋裡呢！」他們就都嚇得面無人色，驚惶失措地彼此對問說：「上帝安排這些事發生在我們身上，究竟是甚麼意思呢？」

Genesis 42:28（KJV）And he said unto his brethren, My money is restored; and, lo, it is even in my sack: and their heart failed them, and they were afraid, saying one to another, What is this that God hath done unto us?

Genesis 42:28（NIV）"My silver has been returned," he said to his brothers. "Here it is in my sack." Their hearts sank and they turned to each other trembling and said, "What is this that God has done to us?"

Genesis 42:30（KJV）The man, who is the lord of the land, spake roughly to us, and took us for spies of the country.

Genesis 42:30（NIV）"The man who is lord over the land spoke harshly to us and treated us as though we were spying on the land.

創42:31（UCV）我們對他說：『我們是誠實人，並不是奸細。

創42:31（NCV）我們對他說：『我們是誠實人，並不是間諜。

創42:31（CLV）我們就向他解釋，告訴他我們是老實人，不是奸細，

Genesis 42:31（KJV）And we said unto him, We are true men; we are no spies:

Genesis 42:31（NIV）But we said to him, 'We are honest men; we are not spies.

創42:32（UCV）我們本是弟兄十二人，都是一個父親的兒子，有一個沒有了，頂小的如今同我們的父親在迦南地。』

創42:33（UCV）那地的主對我們說：『若要我知道你們是誠實人，可以留下你們中間的一個人在我這裡，你們可以帶著糧食回去，救你們家裡的饑荒。

創42:33（NCV）那地的主人對我們說：『我用這個辦法就可以知道你們是不是誠實人：你們兄弟中要留下一人在我這裡，其餘的人可以帶著糧食回去，解救你們家人的饑荒。

Genesis 42:33（KJV）And the man, the lord of the country, said unto us, Hereby shall I know that ye are true men; leave one of your brethren here with me, and take food for the famine of your households, and be gone:

Genesis 42:33（NIV）"Then the man who is lord over the land said to us, 'This is how I will know whether you are honest men: Leave one of your brothers here with me, and take food for your starving households and go.

創42:34（UCV）把你們的小弟兄帶到我這裡來，我便知道你們不是奸細，乃是誠實人。這樣，我就把你們的弟兄交給你們，你們也可以在這地作買賣。』」

Genesis 42:34（KJV）And bring your youngest brother unto me: then shall I know that ye are no spies, but that ye are true men: so will I deliver you your brother, and ye shall traffick in the land.

Genesis 42:34（NIV）But bring your youngest brother to me so I will know that you are not spies but honest men. Then I will give your brother back to you, and you can trade in the land.'"

創42:35（UCV）【雅各不容攜幼子去】後來，他們倒口袋，不料各人的銀包都在口袋裡。他們和父親看見銀包就都害怕。

Genesis 42:35（KJV）And it came to pass as they emptied their sacks, that, behold, every man's bundle of money was in his sack: and when both they and their father saw the bundles of money, they were afraid.

Genesis 42:35（NIV）As they were emptying their sacks, there in each man's sack was his pouch of silver! When they and their father saw the money pouches, they were frightened.

Genesis 42:36（KJV）And Jacob their father said unto them, Me have ye bereaved of my children: Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and ye will take Benjamin away: all these things are against me.

Genesis 42:36（NIV）Their father Jacob said to them, "You have deprived me of my children. Joseph is no more and Simeon is no more, and now you want to take Benjamin. Everything is against me!"

創42:37（UCV）流便對他父親說：「我若不帶他回來交給你，你可以殺我的兩個兒子。只管把他交在我手裡，我必帶他回來交給你。」

創42:37（NCV）流本對他父親說：「如果我不把他帶回來給你，你可以殺死我的兩個兒子；只管把他交給我吧，我必把他帶回來給你。」

創42:37（CLV）呂便對父親說：「要是我不能把便雅憫帶回來見你，你就殺了我的兩個兒子吧！請你放心把便雅憫交給我，我一定會把他帶回來你身邊的。」

Genesis 42:37（KJV）And Reuben spake unto his father, saying, Slay my two sons, if I bring him not to thee: deliver him into my hand, and I will bring him to thee again.

Genesis 42:37（NIV）Then Reuben said to his father, "You may put both of my sons to death if I do not bring him back to you. Entrust him to my care, and I will bring him back."

創42:38（UCV）雅各說：「我的兒子不可與你們一同下去。他哥哥死了，只剩下他。他若在你們所行的路上遭害，那便是你們使我白髮蒼蒼，悲悲慘慘的下陰間去了。」

創42:38（NCV）雅各說：「我的兒子不可與你們一同下去，因為他的哥哥死了，只剩下他一個；如果他在你們所走的路上遇到不幸，你們就使我這白髮老人愁愁苦苦地下陰間去了。」

創42:38（CLV）可是雅各卻堅決地回答說：「我不許他跟你們到埃及去，他哥哥已經死了，現在只有他還留在我身邊。要是他在路上遇到甚麼意外，我這白髮蒼蒼的老人豈不就飲恨黃泉嗎？」

Genesis 42:38（KJV）And he said, My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he is left alone: if mischief befall him by the way in the which ye go, then shall ye bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.

Genesis 42:38（NIV）But Jacob said, "My son will not go down there with you; his brother is dead and he is the only one left. If harm comes to him on the journey you are taking, you will bring my gray head down to the grave in sorrow."
